New PS urges stronger collaboration to drive sector wide efficiency and development

Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofarmata has assumed office as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, calling for deeper collaboration among staff, agencies, and industry stakeholders to enhance the sector’s overall performance.

Kofarmata, who officially took over on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Abuja, said the aviation and aerospace sector cannot thrive in isolation. He stressed that strengthened teamwork and unified efforts are essential to advancing national goals for aviation and aerospace development.

He pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, assuring staff of his commitment to promoting professionalism, improving staff development, and prioritising welfare as key drivers of productivity.

In his remarks, the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, described the Ministry as one blessed with experienced and highly competent personnel. He urged management and staff to extend the same cooperation and support he enjoyed to the new Permanent Secretary, to ensure continuity and sustained progress.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Director of Air Traffic Management (ATM) commended Dr. Kana for his open-door leadership style and notable contributions to the Ministry’s growth. He also reaffirmed the commitment of management and staff to fully support Kofarmata in delivering on the Ministry’s mandate.

The ceremony ended with the formal signing of the handing-over and taking-over documents by both Permanent Secretaries.
