The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has urged Nigerians to uphold faith in God and demonstrate patriotism to the fatherland as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid al-Adha.

Issa-Onilu, in a goodwill message, said the Eid celebration should serve as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, discipline, and compassion, which he described as essential for strengthening national unity and promoting sustainable development.

He stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collective responsibility among citizens, noting that these values remain critical to nation-building amid current national challenges.

According to him, the lessons of Eid al-Adha are particularly relevant to Nigeria’s present realities, as citizens are encouraged to emulate the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim by showing kindness and supporting the less privileged during the festive period.

The NOA Director-General also urged Nigerians to avoid actions capable of undermining public peace and national unity, while advocating dialogue, tolerance, and responsible conduct before, during, and after the celebrations. He further called on community leaders, religious organisations, and youth groups to support government efforts aimed at promoting civic responsibility, national values, and social harmony.

Issa-Onilu reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustained public enlightenment campaigns designed to promote patriotism, unity, and active citizen participation in national development.

He wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and rewarding Eid al-Adha celebration, expressing optimism that the spirit of sacrifice and togetherness associated with the season would inspire Nigerians to work collectively toward a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
