The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency has congratulated Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day, describing them as the foundation, hope and future of the country.
In a statement issued to mark the celebration, the DG urged children across the country to remain committed to education, discipline, patriotism and good moral values, stressing that these qualities are essential for raising responsible future leaders.
He also reminded stakeholders—including parents, teachers, religious leaders and government institutions—of their shared responsibility in protecting and nurturing children, noting that access to quality education, healthcare, safety and guidance remains critical to national development.
The DG warned young Nigerians against negative influences such as crime, drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and violence, encouraging them instead to embrace hard work, integrity, creativity and unity.
He further reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting civic awareness and responsible citizenship among young people through sustained enlightenment programmes across schools and communities nationwide.
The statement was signed by Paul Odenyi, Deputy Director of Communications and Media, while the agency wished all Nigerian children a joyful and memorable 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
