The Federal Ministry of Works has summoned its top management staff and road contractors to an emergency meeting as part of measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and safe travel across the country during the festive period.

In a public announcement issued on Monday, the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, said the meeting will bring together Directors, Zonal Directors and Controllers of Works in the ministry, alongside Managing Directors and Project Managers of companies handling federal road projects nationwide.

The emergency meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Conference Room of the Federal Ministry of Works Headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja.

Beyond the meeting, the ministry also directed all Controllers of Works to ensure that federal roads currently under construction, as well as those already completed within their respective zones, are opened to commuters and other road users throughout the festive season.

According to the ministry, the directive is aimed at easing vehicular movement, reducing travel delays and enhancing safety for Nigerians travelling across the country during the Yuletide.

The announcement, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. R. O. Adeladan, FCIPSN, urged all relevant officials and contractors to ensure strict compliance with the directive in the public interest.

The Federal Ministry of Works has in recent weeks intensified efforts to improve road conditions nationwide, especially along major highways expected to witness heavy traffic during the end-of-year festivities.
