Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
Fubara revealed his decision during a stakeholder engagement, noting that he had secured the green light to exit the PDP after careful consideration. His move places him among the latest set of opposition governors to switch allegiance to the ruling party.
The governor also disclosed that he held a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a day earlier. According to Fubara, the engagement with the President was not a personal courtesy visit but a consultation focused on matters affecting the state.
