Dr. Ike Neliaku has been re-elected as President and Chairman of the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), securing a fresh two-year mandate to lead the institute.

His unopposed return was confirmed on Thursday during the 2nd Nigeria Public Relations Week (NIPRW), held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after he clinched a seat on the Governing Council.

Also re-elected was Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, who retains his position as Vice President. The duo will lead a 22-member Governing Council comprising 17 elected representatives and five federal government appointees.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Neliaku reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning public relations as a strategic instrument for national development and image enhancement.

> “We will continue the work we have started in reinventing Nigeria’s image and professionalizing public relations practice in every sector,” he said.

Highlights of the NIPR Week included a stakeholders’ roundtable with traditional rulers, networking cocktails, the formal inauguration of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), and strategic sessions focused on the future of public relations in Nigeria.

A Fellow of the Institute (FNIPR), Dr. Neliaku hails from Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. He holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, a Master’s degree in Political Economy, and a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the University of Abuja.

His re-election was unanimously backed by the following elected council members: Comfort Nwankwo (Lagos), Olusegun McMedal (Lagos), Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura (Nasarawa), Sajoh Ahmed Ibrahim (Adamawa), Akin Agbejule (Niger), Olubunmi Adedoyin Badejo (FCT), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha (Anambra), Bashir Adamu Chedi, Saudat Salah Abdubaqi (Kwara), Ini Ememobong (Akwa Ibom), Kabir Ali Kobir (Bauchi), Paulinus Nsirim (Rivers), Sarah Benjamin Lwahas (Plateau), Adaramola Temitope (Ogun), Adewale Oyekanmi (Osun), and Patrick Ogoegbunem Uka (Delta).

The institute’s leadership renewal reflects a continued commitment to strengthening public relations as a tool for national unity, credibility, and sustainable development.
