The peace-loving community of Amasiri has rejected claims circulating through the media that it intends to attack Nigerian soldiers deployed within the area.

In a statement issued to the media, Princess Joy Omagha Idam, on behalf of Amasiri Communities, described the allegations as “categorically and unequivocally false.” She emphasized that Amasiri residents have neither attacked, attempted to attack, nor planned any aggression against security personnel.

“We are law-abiding citizens who recognize and respect the constitutional role of security agencies,” the statement read.

Princess Idam expressed concern over unverified voice recordings circulating on social media, warning that anonymous audio clips should not be used to generalize criminal intent to an entire community. She urged independent forensic verification of such materials.

The community also called on the Government of Ebonyi State, under Governor Francis Nwifuru, and all security agencies to rely strictly on verified intelligence and professional rules of engagement.

“Let it be on record: Amasiri has not thrown pebbles at the soldiers — not to talk of planning an attack. If any individual is found to be involved in unlawful conduct, such matters should be addressed individually in accordance with the law,  not attributed collectively to Amasiri,” Princess Idam stressed.

The statement incorporated a strong reaffirmation of the community’s commitment to peace, lawful engagement, and cooperation with security authorities, while urging all parties to avoid inflammatory rhetoric capable of escalating tensions.
Peace remains the position of Amasiri.
