Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora as they prepare to celebrate Easter, urging them to reflect on the virtues of love, sacrifice and forgiveness associated with the season.

Tunji-Ojo delivered the message while announcing that the Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration.

In a statement issued on behalf of the Federal Government, the minister described Easter as a significant period in the Christian faith that commemorates the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He encouraged Nigerians to embrace the values of selflessness, forbearance and compassion demonstrated by Christ, noting that such virtues remain essential for promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.

Tunji-Ojo further called on citizens to uphold the principles of tolerance and community spirit that bind Nigerians together, stressing that collective commitment to these ideals would strengthen the nation’s social fabric.

The minister also reiterated that the Federal Government remains focused on policies and decisions aimed at fostering national renewal, economic growth and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
