Faction insists INEC did not validate any leadership, accuses rival group of misinformation

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State loyal to Elder Leke Abejide has dismissed reports suggesting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rejected its leadership structure, describing the claim as “a lie from the pit of hell” and “a waste of ink.”

In a strongly worded rejoinder signed by factional Chairman Chief Maiyaki Sunday and Secretary Pas Akpena Mamman, the group insisted that INEC neither endorsed the Kingsley Ogah-led leadership nor invalidated the Abejide-aligned executive.

According to the statement, INEC merely reiterated a routine administrative guideline that political parties must follow due process when communicating changes in their leadership, a position the faction says it has already complied with.

“This is not news. This is not a victory. This is not a pronouncement,” the faction declared. “INEC did NOT validate anybody. INEC did NOT endorse Kingsley Ogah, neither did it reject the Chief Maiyaki Sunday-led exco.”

The Abejide faction accused the opposing bloc of sponsoring “sensational headlines” and engaging in “political gymnastics” to mislead the public, adding that the attempt to politicize an “unsolicited one sided correspondence” was a sign of desperation.

The rejoinder further alleged that some members of the party’s national leadership had been “bought over,” but insisted that such influence would not derail the proper documentation and ratification of the faction’s executives.

“Trying to spin an administrative acknowledgement into a political ‘victory’ exposes the desperation within the camp,” the statement said. “If this is what they now celebrate, then their political decline is deeper than imagined.”

The faction urged ADC members across Kogi State to remain calm, stressing that no amount of “media drama or political noise” can substitute for due process.

“Politics is on the ground and not in newspaper headlines,” the statement added.
