Authorities urge residents to remain calm and vigilant
LThe Kogi State Police Command has dismissed reports of a bandit invasion in Zango, Crusher, and Felele communities, calling the rumours false and misleading. The announcement comes after social media posts on Wednesday, 27th November 2025, caused unnecessary alarm among residents.
CSP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, has described the circulating stories as “fake news” meant to incite fear and tension in the state. CP Kankarofi warned that anyone found spreading such false information would face arrest and prosecution under the law.
The police chief reassured residents that tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force and counter-terrorism units, remain deployed at strategic locations across Lokoja to guarantee public safety. “We urge citizens to continue with their daily activities and report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities immediately,” CP Kankarofi said.
Highlighting that security is a shared responsibility, the police encouraged communities to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. Residents are advised to report any suspicious activities to 07038329084.
CSP Aya reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order throughout Kogi State.
