The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo, has urged Nigerian professionals to strengthen unity and mentorship across sectors, describing collective expertise as critical to sustainable national development. He made the call while delivering the keynote address at the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sokoto Professionals Network (SPN), held in Sokoto between December 26 and 27. This was made known in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Abdullahi Mohammed.
Speaking on the theme “Expanding Horizons, Strengthening Bonds,” Goronyo described the gathering as timely, noting that Nigeria’s social and economic challenges require strong professional networks built on trust, shared responsibility and a shared development vision.

He said professionals play a strategic role in shaping institutions, driving economic growth and translating ideas into practical solutions to societal challenges. According to him, platforms such as the Sokoto Professionals Network provide a valuable space for mentorship, policy engagement, innovation and meaningful contributions to community and national development.
The minister highlighted infrastructure development as a key catalyst for economic and social advancement, explaining that quality roads, bridges and transport corridors are essential for commerce, education, healthcare delivery, security and national integration.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering durable and sustainable infrastructure nationwide under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that professionalism, accountability and the development of local capacity remain central to the administration’s approach.

Goronyo further urged members of the Network to deepen collaboration between senior and emerging professionals, as well as between home-based and diaspora members. He also encouraged stronger engagement between professional bodies and government institutions, noting that a united and solution-oriented professional voice can positively influence policy direction and development outcomes.
In recognition of his contributions to public service, infrastructure development and professional advancement, the Sokoto Professionals Network presented Goronyo with a Certificate of Membership during the closing ceremony of the AGM.

The minister expressed appreciation for the honour and commended the leadership and members of the Network for sustaining an inclusive and credible professional platform, expressing confidence that its contributions to the development of Sokoto State and Nigeria would continue to grow.
