Residents of Goronyo Local Government Area in Sokoto State are welcoming a renewed sense of safety after the Divisional Police Headquarters in the area was fenced, a project facilitated by the Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo.

The development was confirmed to the press on Sunday, January 18, 2026, by Abdullahi Mohammed, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister.

The Sokoto State Police Command has formally commended the minister for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. Police officials said the fencing strengthens the security of the facility while boosting the confidence and morale of officers and men serving in the division.

In a letter dated December 31, 2025, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Umar Sokoto Abubakar, PSC, of the Department of Finance and Administration, signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, highlighted the urgent need to safeguard both personnel and infrastructure at the divisional headquarters. The letter also praised Goronyo’s swift response to the request for improved security.

Police authorities noted that the project is expected to support more effective policing and better service delivery for the people of Goronyo and neighboring communities. The enhanced security measures are also seen as a morale booster for officers who operate daily under challenging conditions.

Reacting to the commendation, Minister Goronyo expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Police Command and reaffirmed his commitment to continued collaboration with security agencies. He assured that he would continue supporting social amenities, security infrastructure, and other critical public facilities for communities, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aimed at strengthening security, promoting development, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

The minister also emphasized that sustained investment in security institutions and community infrastructure is essential for long-term public safety and national development.

The police also prayed for the minister, asking Almighty Allah to continue granting him strength, wisdom, and success as he works to improve security and the welfare of communities across the state.
