The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State, citing ongoing rehabilitation work at its orientation camp in Paiko.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the scheme, Caroline Embu.

According to the statement, the postponement became necessary following extensive damage caused by a recent windstorm at the Paiko Orientation Camp. The Niger State Government is currently carrying out renovation and restoration works on the facility, rendering it unsuitable for the scheduled orientation exercise.

NYSC said it is making urgent arrangements to secure an alternative venue for the programme and assured affected prospective corps members that a new commencement date and other relevant details would be communicated in due course.

The management appealed to prospective corps members and their families for patience and understanding while efforts are being made to ensure a smooth and successful orientation exercise.

It also expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause and appreciated stakeholders for their cooperation.

The orientation course is the first phase of the mandatory one-year national service programme for newly mobilised graduates and is designed to prepare corps members for their service year while promoting national unity, integration, and development.
