A new contender has officially joined the Kogi Governorship race, bringing business expertise and a vision for systemic development. Dr. Lamidi Omoshagba, a respected industrialist and proud Okun son, has formally declared his intention to contest under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to a press release issued by the ADC State Secretary, Pst. Mamman Akpena, on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Dr. Omoshagba’s declaration took place at the ADC Lokoja office. He met with key party officials, including the zonal woman leader and zonal chairman, who welcomed his entry, noting that his values and vision align with the ADC’s people-oriented manifesto.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Omoshagba emphasized that his focus is on institutional growth rather than personal ambition. “Our mission is to recreate institutional growth. When institutions thrive, governance succeeds, and the people benefit,” he said. “With the platform of this great party, we aim to implement programs that directly impact the lives of Kogites.”

Drawing on his experience as an industrialist, he expressed confidence in his ability to manage people, resources, and projects effectively. “Our aspirations are people-centered. We aim to assemble the best minds and hands to propel Kogi into a hub of progress in both infrastructure and human capital management,” he added.

Reflecting on the challenges facing the state, Dr. Omoshagba stressed that with effective leadership, many of Kogi’s pressing issues could be addressed decisively.

The ADC State Chairman, Hon. Maiyaki Sunday, praised the aspirant and reiterated that the party remains open to all who are ready to implement its manifesto. “The party welcomes individuals whose political path aligns with programs that positively impact the public,” he said.

The declaration event was also attended by the state secretary and other key state and zonal party leaders, marking a strategic start to Dr. Omoshagba’s political journey within the ADC.
