Backed by women and youth groups, Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke promises industrialisation and long-term economic empowerment for Adavi/Okehi.

By Joy Onu

Support groups across Adavi and Okehi Local Government Areas of Kogi State have endorsed Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Adoke (AIA) as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced at a historic town hall meeting held on February 12, 2026, at Tafari Hotels Conference Hall in Nagazi, where women and youth groups, community leaders, and other stakeholders pledged massive grassroots mobilisation in support of her ambition. The gathering marked a significant moment in the political discourse of the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, reflecting growing calls for transformative and results-driven leadership.

Representatives of the support groups voiced dissatisfaction with what they described as years of ineffective representation and tokenistic constituency projects, often reduced to short-term handouts such as “two cups of rice, beans and one yard of ankara.” They argued that the constituency deserves leadership focused on sustainable development, economic empowerment, and long-term community growth.

Dr. Adoke was praised for her experience and administrative capacity, having served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kogi Investment and Property Limited, as well as Director of Public Service in the Federal Capital Territory. Supporters described her as a technocrat with a proven record across both public service and private sector engagement.

In her acceptance speech, themed “Fixing Adavi/Okehi for Today and Tomorrow: The Future—Bold Steps,” Dr. Adoke expressed gratitude for the endorsement and pledged to transform the constituency through industrialisation and wealth creation.

“Together, with your support and collective resolve, we can transform Adavi/Okehi into a model of opportunity and shared prosperity. Insha Allah, I will leverage my network to bring real development to our people,” she said.

Rejecting traditional campaign practices centred on material inducements, she declared: “I will not share wrappers. I will not share rice. I will create wealth and build communities for self-sustainability. I will industrialise Adavi/Okehi. I don’t talk too much, but I deliver results.”

According to her supporters, Dr. Adoke’s agenda includes closing infrastructure gaps, creating sustainable economic opportunities, empowering women and youths, and ensuring meaningful federal presence across all wards of the constituency.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Johnson Joseph Uchenyo, President of FOAN for Good Governance (FOAN), described the town hall as a landmark engagement that underscored the importance of inclusive representation and grassroots participation. He urged constituents to rally behind Dr. Adoke, describing her as “tested and trusted” and capable of delivering purposeful leadership.

Other community leaders, including Austin Ishaq and women leader Mrs. Blessing Orumah, echoed similar sentiments, expressing confidence in Dr. Adoke’s ability to exceed expectations if elected.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of 2027, observers say the endorsement represents an early boost for the ADC in Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, signalling a growing appetite for leadership anchored on development rather than short-term political gestures.
