The Chairman of the Transportation Subcommittee of the APC Convention and Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, on Tuesday inaugurated the Accommodation and Transportation Committee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging members to ensure seamless logistics and coordination for the party’s major event.

Speaking at the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja, Umahi explained that the committee is charged with planning and coordinating the movement and accommodation of delegates, party officials, special guests, and other accredited participants expected at the convention.

The Accommodation and Transportation Committee has been structured into two closely linked sub-units to streamline operations. The Transportation Committee is chaired by Senator Umahi and co-chaired by the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, while the Accommodation Committee is chaired by the governor with Umahi serving as co-chair. Umahi described the arrangement as a demonstration of close collaboration with the governor, noting that both committees would operate in tandem to ensure a seamless convention.

“There is a Transport Committee chaired by me and co-chaired by my good friend and brother, the Kano State Governor. There is also an Accommodation Committee chaired by the governor with me as co-chair,” Umahi said. “Both committees are essentially the same in function and will work together to ensure a successful convention.”

Umahi also highlighted that the joint effort would guarantee that all logistics relating to delegates’ accommodation and transportation are handled efficiently ahead of the convention.

Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Secretary of the Committee and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, was represented at the meeting by Engr. Aderemi Oseni, who delivered the prepared opening remarks on behalf of the chairman. Oseni welcomed members to the inaugural session and thanked them for their commitment to the party.

The committee will oversee all arrangements related to delegates’ accommodation and transportation, ensuring that hotels are secured, rooms are properly allocated, and shuttle services connect hotels to the convention venue efficiently. It will also manage vehicle fleets for VIPs and operational movements, coordinate the arrival and departure of delegates and guests, and make special arrangements for party leaders and dignitaries.

In addition, the committee will work closely with other sub-committees responsible for venue management, protocol, accreditation, and security, ensuring that all operations are seamlessly integrated. During the convention, members will actively monitor logistics, address any challenges that arise, and provide on-the-spot support to guarantee that delegates and guests are comfortably accommodated and transported, contributing to the overall success of the APC 2026 National Convention.

Senator Umahi officially declared the committee inaugurated, while other committee officers and members in attendance expressed readiness to execute their responsibilities and ensure that the APC 2026 National Convention is efficiently managed.
