The Federal Government has commended the Kebbi State Government for donating ten new Toyota Hilux vehicles to bolster security and operational activities along the ongoing Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway. The vehicles were formally handed over to the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo, Esq., during a brief ceremony at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday.

According to Abdullahi Ameen Mohammed, SA Media to the Honourable Minister of State for Works, in a press statement issued on 5th December 2025, the gesture demonstrates Kebbi State’s strong commitment to ensuring the smooth execution of one of Nigeria’s most ambitious national road projects.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Federal Government, Goronyo described the support as a timely intervention that will enhance surveillance operations, protect workers, and prevent disruptions to construction activities along the corridor. He noted that the super highway is a flagship initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda, which relies heavily on intergovernmental partnerships for successful delivery.

Providing updates on the project, the Minister revealed that contractors have cleared 64 kilometres of right-of-way and completed over 30 kilometres of earthworks within the Kebbi section. He added that four kilometres of concrete dual carriageway and five kilometres of solar-powered streetlights have so far been delivered.

Goronyo further explained that the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is being developed as a fully serviced economic corridor equipped with CCTV surveillance, police outposts, solar streetlights, boreholes at regular intervals, schools, and medical centres, all designed to boost security and catalyse socio-economic growth across the region.

Governor Nasir Idris, who presented the vehicles, said Kebbi’s contribution reflects its commitment to securing the workforce and communities along the project route. He emphasized that with Kebbi hosting 258 kilometres of the highway — the longest stretch in any state — protecting construction personnel and equipment is essential.

“Security remains the foundation upon which all meaningful development stands,” Idris stated, adding that the vehicles will help ensure the project progresses without hindrance and delivers its full economic benefits.

Goronyo expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Government for its cooperation and reiterated the Federal Government’s determination to deliver transformative infrastructure that enhances mobility, strengthens national security, and drives economic development across the North-West and beyond.
