In a decisive move to reposition the nation’s civil service for greater productivity, the Federal Ministry of Works has launched a comprehensive Personnel Audit and Skills Gaps Analysis (PASGA) to strengthen human capital management and improve public service delivery.

The exercise, inaugurated on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, was declared open by the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi.

Organised in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), the initiative seeks to enhance workforce planning, optimise deployment, and ensure accountability across the Ministry and its agencies.

Project Manager and Lead Analyst, Mr. Jonathan Yusuf, described PASGA as a bold and necessary step toward transforming the Civil Service and aligning it with national development goals. He explained that the audit would involve personnel verification, skills assessment, and the creation of an updated database to identify gaps and guide strategic staffing decisions.

“This is not just another routine audit but a strategic and transformative pillar of the Civil Service reform,” Yusuf stated. “Any staff who absents themselves from this exercise will be considered not in the Service.”

The audit, scheduled to run from October 20 to November 14, 2025, will cover physical verification, biometric capturing, document authentication, and workforce analysis.

Mr. Abdullahi, who also serves as Director of Human Resource Management, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the success of the initiative, describing it as the foundation of a stronger, smarter, and more accountable Service. He said the exercise would also guide training, career development, and succession planning within the Ministry.

The ceremony was attended by directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and other staff members who pledged their cooperation toward the successful implementation of PASGA.
