ERC calls on participants of five day programme to implement innovative teaching methods and inspire student entrepreneurship
Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been called upon to sustain and apply the skills acquired during a five day intensive Entrepreneurship Pedagogy training programme.
The appeal was made on Friday by Dr. Nameet Daud Abdulrahim, Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC), at the programme’s closing ceremony. She commended participants for their commitment and urged them to integrate innovative teaching methods into their classrooms. “The success of this programme depends on consistent implementation, creativity, and step down training across schools,” Dr. Abdulrahim said.
She explained that the training equipped teachers with practical entrepreneurship skills, creative thinking, and student centered learning approaches. “Every child has the potential to become self reliant and contribute meaningfully to society,” she added.
Speaking at the event, the CEO of CEBAR emphasized the importance of collaboration between teachers, schools, government agencies, and private sector partners. She urged participants to serve as change agents, fostering entrepreneurial mindsets that will drive a productive and prosperous future for Nigeria.
Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn beyond traditional classroom methods and pledged to step down the training to colleagues in other schools.
Dr. Keni Fredrick, Head of the Division of Teachers Development at ERC, noted that trained teachers are central to linking classroom instruction with the broader entrepreneurship ecosystem. He encouraged them to inspire students to think critically, innovate, and pursue economic independence.
The five day programme covered entrepreneurship pedagogy foundations, creativity and innovation, learner centered methodologies, technology integration, school based enterprise development, and partnerships with private sector innovation hubs. A final communique recommended continuous professional development for teachers, institutional support for school enterprises, strengthened mentorship, and fostering a mindset where failure is seen as part of learning to fuel persistence and innovation.
