The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Godwin Iguh Eze, has commended the Enugu State Police Command for its operational performance, urging officers to sustain the tempo in maintaining peace and security across the state.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chidera Oha, the AIG made the remarks during a familiarisation and operational visit to the Enugu State Police Command Headquarters on July 8. The visit was aimed at reviewing policing activities and strengthening coordination between the zonal headquarters and the command.

Eze praised the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, for improving the command’s operational efficiency, noting that the efforts had contributed to the relatively peaceful atmosphere in Enugu State, allowing residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.

He urged the command not to relent, encouraging officers to build on the progress already recorded and continue working towards making Enugu a secure environment for residents, businesses, educational institutions and other lawful activities.

The AIG also assured the command of the Zone 13 Headquarters’ continued support in protecting lives and property and strengthening security operations across the state.

Earlier, Giwa welcomed the visiting police chief and members of his management team, describing the visit as a demonstration of effective leadership, close supervision and commitment to national security.
The commissioner briefed the AIG on the command’s achievements, operational challenges and ongoing efforts to improve policing and service delivery across the state.

The visit ended with the AIG signing the command’s visitors’ register before joining the commissioner of police and members of the command’s management team for a group photograph.

Headquartered in Ukpo, Anambra State, the Zone 13 Police Command supervises police operations in Anambra and Enugu states.
