ADC Leadership Reaffirms Unity, Urges Vigilance Against Impostors Across Kogi State

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on members across Kogi State to remain committed to the growth of the party, insisting on unity and loyalty to its founding ideals and national leadership. The appeal comes amid reports of individuals attempting to exploit the party’s structure for personal political gain.

According to press statements issued by the party’s Secretary, Hon. Mamman Akpena, the calls for vigilance and unity were made during the ongoing sensitisation tours of Kogi Central and Kogi West Senatorial Districts by the ADC State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Maiyaki, and Hon. Akpena. In Kogi Central, the Zonal Chairman, Hon. Huisein Shahaab, urged residents to disregard “some big names” allegedly parading themselves as party leaders, warning that their real intentions are deceitful and contrary to the growth of the ADC.

Hon. Shahaab traced the party’s growth and stability to the National Leader, Elder Leke Abejide, noting that the party has been nurtured since 2017 and has achieved successive electoral victories, including additional federal constituency wins during the 2023 general elections. He stressed that new entrants do not necessarily have the party’s best interests at heart and called on members to remain vigilant and focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots.

In Kogi West, the party leadership reiterated its commitment to the people of the zone. Hon. Maiyaki highlighted the people-oriented initiatives of Elder Abejide, including educational support such as payment of WAEC and JAMB fees, which have extended federal presence and developmental benefits to local communities. The state chairman also dismissed claims of division within the party, describing internal disagreements as family matters currently before the courts, which would soon be resolved.

During a courtesy visit to Odo-Ore, ADC chieftain Chief Kehinde Asalu assured Elder Abejide of the unwavering support of Kogi West, rejecting alleged coalition efforts by politically irrelevant actors. Chief Asalu cautioned the public against these coalitions, describing them as deceptive, while praising the party’s interventions and infrastructural contributions in the senatorial district.

Speaking separately, the ADC Woman Leader in Kogi West, Mrs. Ebun Komolafe, appealed for adequate registration materials to accommodate new members, reflecting growing interest in joining the party. The tours in both zones concluded with the formal handover of nomination forms to chairmanship and councillorship candidates ahead of the forthcoming Kogi State local government elections scheduled for next year.
