The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun final preparations for its upcoming National Convention, emphasizing unity, procedural discipline, and internal cohesion. The Party outlined these steps during the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), highlighted the peaceful and orderly conduct of recent State and Zonal Congresses, describing the exercises as reflective of the Party’s processes. He commended leaders, electoral officers, aspirants, and members for their adherence to due process, which ensured credible outcomes.

“Victory must be magnanimous, and contest must foster unity. The PDP remains one indivisible family, bound by shared values and a common vision for a better Nigeria,” Mohammed said, calling on members to maintain discipline and collaboration ahead of the National Convention scheduled for March 29 and 30, 2026.

The NEC also acknowledged the role of the Party’s National Leader, His Excellency Ezewo Nyesome Wike CON, in providing continuity and stability during recent legal and political challenges. Mohammed noted that recent judicial rulings had strengthened internal cohesion and reinforced the Party’s commitment to inclusiveness and reconciliation.

Complementing the Chairman’s address, the communiqué released by Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Secretary of the NCWC, ratified the outcomes of Ward, Local Government Area, State, and Zonal Congresses nationwide, describing them as conducted in line with Party guidelines. The NEC also recognized progress in the ongoing electronic registration of members, reaffirming the Party’s commitment to a comprehensive, technology-driven membership database.

The meeting confirmed the zoning formula for National Elective Positions, emphasizing principles of fairness, equity, and national balance. Aspirants were advised to follow approved guidelines and timelines for the sale of nomination forms ahead of the convention.

The communiqué further highlighted the theme of the upcoming convention: “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity, and Renewal,” reflecting the Party’s focus on cohesion and procedural discipline. The NEC concluded with a call for all members to remain committed to the Party’s organizational objectives and electoral preparedness.

As the convention approaches, PDP leadership has underscored the importance of unity, adherence to internal processes, and structured preparations. The outcome of the convention is expected to provide clarity on the Party’s leadership structure and electoral strategy, helping to stabilize internal divisions and reinforce confidence among members, particularly in the wake of the unresolved Ibadan convention court case. By addressing these outstanding legal and organizational issues, the Party aims to present a united front and strengthen its readiness for future political engagements.
