The Minister of Works, David Nweze Umahi, has reacted to the killing of a traditional ruler in Ebonyi State, Eze Francis Igwe, describing the incident as shocking and deeply painful while extending condolences to the bereaved family.

The monarch, who was the father of former Deputy Governor of the state, Kelechi Igwe, reportedly died in captivity after he was abducted by unknown persons a few days earlier, an incident that has generated widespread concern within the state and beyond.

Speaking on the development, Umahi said the late royal father was known for his wisdom, calm disposition and commitment to peace and development in his community, noting that his passing represents a significant loss to his family, the traditional institution and the people of Ebonyi State.

The minister also sympathised with Kelechi Igwe and the entire Igwe family, while commending security agencies for the swift arrest of suspects linked to the incident and expressing hope that justice would be served.
