President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, Saturday, May 31, commission the completed 30-kilometre section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos State, marking a major milestone in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda.

The event, scheduled to take place at Kilometre 8 of the highway near Jakande Estate, is part of a broader effort by the Tinubu administration to inaugurate key completed road projects across Southern Nigeria.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser on Media to the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.

According to the statement, President Tinubu will also virtually commission several completed federal road projects spanning Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, Oyo, Cross River, Enugu, Ebonyi, and other states.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, first conceived by Tinubu 27 years ago, is one of the administration’s four Renewed Hope Legacy Projects. The 750km superhighway is designed to connect nine coastal states, enhance national integration, boost tourism, and stimulate inclusive economic growth.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the project, Senator Umahi described it as a “flagship of holistic road infrastructure transformation in Africa.”

“If the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway could be this beautiful, how will the streets of heaven be?” Umahi remarked, referencing the road’s aesthetics and engineering standard.

Dignitaries expected at the commissioning include governors of coastal states, members of the National Assembly, federal ministers, heads of agencies, and international development partners.

Senator Umahi and the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, have assured the public that all necessary arrangements are in place to receive guests and ensure a smooth and successful ceremony.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to stakeholders and extended best wishes to all invited guests for safe travels as they gather in Lagos for this historic occasion.
