NDLEA disrupts major drug syndicates, recovers huge cannabis shipments and cash across multiple states

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a wanted drug baron, recovered large quantities of illicit drugs, and seized foreign currency in a coordinated series of nationwide operations.

According to a press statement issued by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, the suspect, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, also known as Chisco Bee, was apprehended after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. The 42 year old, who operates as a businessman and hotelier, was arrested at his Daisy Garden Hotel on Agbeke Street, Ago Palace Way, Isolo, Lagos, in the early hours of Saturday, 15th November 2025.

Operatives subsequently led him to a warehouse at 7 Pius Ezeobi Street, off Ago Palace Way, where 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud (a potent cannabis strain) weighing 1,762.8kg were recovered. Cash seized from him included $11,600; £2,000; €2,200; and 50 Canadian dollars.

In Osun State, NDLEA disrupted a major drug syndicate in the Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve, Ife South LGA, thwarting the distribution of 11,135kg of processed skunk. Two trucks, a Volvo (WWR 29 XA) and a Mercedes (AWK 713 YZ) were seized, and seven suspects arrested: Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, Victor Ngbikili, Sunday Oduegwu, Ibrahim Akanni, Eze Godstime, and Fred Ifeanyichukwu.

Across Edo, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Lagos, and Kwara states, NDLEA operatives recovered thousands of kilograms of skunk and methamphetamine, including seizures from vehicles and warehouses. Arrests were made in connection with these operations, and 396,000 tramadol capsules were recovered at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola.

The Agency also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns in schools, religious centres, workplaces, and communities nationwide, including institutions in Zamfara, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Enugu, Lagos, and Ogun states.

Babafemi noted that the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended officers of the Special Operations Unit and commands in Osun, Lagos, Edo, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Kwara states for their efforts. Marwa urged all personnel across the country to maintain the agency’s balanced and aggressive drug control strategy.
