President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for what he described as his outstanding commitment to infrastructure development, while urging him to maintain the momentum in delivering road and bridge projects across the country.

The President made the remarks in a birthday tribute to the minister, released on Saturday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu described Umahi as one of the strongest performers in his administration, commending his dedication to ensuring that federal road projects meet approved standards and are built to last.

According to the President, the minister’s regular visits to construction sites across the country demonstrate his hands-on leadership style and commitment to quality delivery, rather than relying solely on reports from officials.

“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers, passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century,” Tinubu said.

The President encouraged the minister to sustain the pace of ongoing construction and rehabilitation projects, stressing that improved road infrastructure is central to the Renewed Hope Agenda and remains vital for economic growth, safer transportation and improved living standards for Nigerians.

Before joining the Federal Executive Council as Minister of Works, Umahi served as Governor of Ebonyi State for two terms between 2015 and 2023 before representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District in the Senate. His tenure as governor was widely associated with major infrastructure projects across the state.
