President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant reorganisation of Nigeria’s military leadership, appointing new Service Chiefs in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s security architecture.

In a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, General Olufemi Oluyede was named Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Major-General W. Shaibu has been appointed Chief of Army Staff. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes the role of Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu expressed his deep appreciation for the outgoing Service Chiefs, commending their patriotic service and dedicated leadership. He charged the new appointees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, vigilance and comradeship in service of the nation.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, mark a strategic attempt by the Federal Government to reinforce operational focus across land, air and sea defence domains and ensure tighter coordination in response to evolving security challenges.
