The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Benin–Omotosho 330kV transmission line, ending a week-long outage that affected power transmission and is expected to improve electricity supply to customers served by three distribution companies.

The transmission line was successfully returned to service at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after engineers completed repairs on sections where conductors detached, causing the outage on June 25.

In a statement issued on Friday by the company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said its engineers restrung the detached conductors and carried out maintenance on the affected sections before restoring the line to operation.

With the transmission line back in service, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric will be able to receive more electricity from the national grid for distribution to customers within their franchise areas.

The restoration is expected to enhance power availability across the areas covered by the three distribution companies, following the temporary disruption caused by the outage.

TCN apologised for the inconvenience experienced by electricity consumers during the period and expressed appreciation to affected customers and stakeholders for their patience, understanding and cooperation while repair works were carried out.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s transmission network to support a more stable and reliable electricity supply nationwide.
