Keyamo pushes Customs partnership as Abuja set to host landmark aviation showcase in December

Abuja is set to host Nigeria’s first ever International Airshow from December 2 to 4, 2025, as the Federal Government steps up preparations for what promises to be a landmark event in the country’s aviation calendar.

Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister, Festus Keyamo, CON, represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, gave the update during a meeting with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, on Thursday.

According to the press release issued by the Ministry’s Head, Press and Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi, Kana described the maiden airshow as a major milestone in efforts to reposition Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector as a central hub in Africa. He said the Ministry is seeking a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service to ease importation procedures and secure duty waivers for aircraft, equipment, and exhibition materials from participating countries.

The event, themed “Advancing the Future of Aviation and Aerospace in Africa,” is expected to foster innovation, attract investment, and deepen collaboration among stakeholders across the continent and beyond.

The Ministry noted that the three day programme will offer a platform for global and regional players to meet, share insights, and explore new business opportunities, featuring exhibitions and live demonstrations of state-of-the-art aircraft, aerospace technologies, and related services from leading international companies.

Finance Minister Wale Edun commended the Ministry and organisers for the initiative, urging continued engagement with the Customs Service to guarantee smooth clearance and waiver processes. He described the airshow as a bold step toward showcasing Nigeria’s potential and strengthening its position in the global aviation and aerospace industry.
