The Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the priorities outlined in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, describing the budget as people-centred and responsive to Nigeria’s most pressing needs, particularly security and road infrastructure.

In a press statement issued on December 20, 2025, by Abdullahi A. Mohammed, Special Adviser on Media to the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Goronyo said the substantial allocation to security in the proposed budget underscores President Tinubu’s firm commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide, stressing that sustainable development cannot thrive in an insecure environment. He noted that improved security would stimulate economic activities, strengthen investor confidence and promote national stability.

The Minister also praised the strong emphasis on road infrastructure, stating that sustained investment in the construction, rehabilitation and completion of federal roads would ease transportation challenges, reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs, and improve access to markets and essential services across the country.

According to him, the combined focus on enhanced security and improved road infrastructure, alongside ongoing economic reforms, fiscal discipline and investments in human capital development in education and health, would significantly help in alleviating the hardship currently faced by Nigerians.

Goronyo added that these policy priorities are expected to create jobs, stimulate economic growth and improve the overall quality of life of citizens.

He assured Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Works remains fully committed to the effective implementation of all road projects approved in the 2026 budget, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while calling for the continued support and cooperation of stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of projects nationwide.
