The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in Kogi State have reiterated their commitment to closer operational cooperation and sustained intelligence sharing in efforts to strengthen peace and security across the state.
This followed a press statement issued on Tuesday by Abubakar Abdulkareem Zakariya, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I and Command Public Relations Officer, Niger/Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, detailing a courtesy visit by the Customs Area Comptroller, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja.
The visit, which highlighted ongoing inter-agency coordination, was described as cordial and reflective of the working relationship between both security institutions in the state.
Comptroller Umar, while speaking during the engagement, expressed appreciation for the reception accorded him and his team, noting that the visit was intended to further consolidate the existing partnership between the two agencies.
He emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration among security organisations, stressing that effective communication, intelligence sharing, and mutual support remain vital in addressing security concerns and enhancing national stability.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the Nigeria Customs Service to sustain and deepen cooperation with the Police and other security stakeholders in Kogi State.
In his remarks, CP Kankarofi welcomed the Customs Comptroller and described the visit as significant in reinforcing joint security efforts in the state. He stated that security agencies in Kogi operate with a unified approach, working collectively to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents.
The Police Commissioner also commended the Customs Service for its professionalism and continued support in joint operations, while appreciating the Comptroller for the engagement.
The meeting ended with both agencies pledging stronger coordination, improved intelligence exchange, and continued collaboration aimed at enhancing security across Kogi State.
