The African Democratic Congress (ADC)
has unveiled its party structure in Kogi East Senatorial District, positioning itself as a major contender to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling event, held in Anyigba on Saturday, drew a large crowd of party supporters and residents. Speaking at the occasion, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, retired general and ADC North Central leader, said the initiative reflected a collective desire across Kogi East, Central, and West to unite for a Nigeria where security and development are guaranteed.
Ogbeha accused the APC of leaving Nigeria mired in poverty, insecurity, and stagnation. He stressed that ADC would address these issues directly.
“ADC will secure Nigeria. Our goal is to move the nation from poverty to prosperity. Nigerians must unite under ADC for development. The next election is a contest between ADC and the people, and Nigerians will prevail,” he said.
The party leader called on members to maintain discipline and avoid activities that could undermine the party, emphasizing that commitment to ADC could reshape Nigeria’s political and social landscape. He also highlighted the party’s focus on youth and women, promising that their participation would be central to governance.
Elder Simon Achuba, former Deputy Governor of Kogi State and Kogi East ADC leader, described the party as a corrective force against the shortcomings of APC governance.
“We have witnessed systemic failures in governance and party operations across the country. ADC represents a fresh start aimed at restoring justice, welfare, and unity in Kogi State,” Achuba said.
He cited the collapse of educational and healthcare systems in local communities as a major concern, explaining that most primary and secondary schools remain non-functional due to mismanagement of local government funds.
“When local governments lack resources, schools and health centres suffer. In many areas, education has effectively been denied, and healthcare access is limited. Under ADC, every child will have the opportunity to attend school, and every citizen will have access to health services,” he added.
Achuba also linked rising insecurity in Kogi State to the weakened capacity of local governments, which are no longer able to conduct peace and security meetings or provide critical intelligence to state authorities.
“Without proper local government involvement, communities remain vulnerable, and criminals operate unchecked. ADC is committed to reversing this and ensuring the safety of lives and property,” he said.
The former deputy governor also raised concerns about marginalization within the state, urging voters to reject APC in the next election. He announced that the party would embark on a grassroots engagement strategy across all local governments in Kogi East.
