President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his decisive reforms and strategic initiatives aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s aviation sector. The President praised the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for sustaining the FAAN National Aviation Conference (FNAC) as a credible platform for innovation, partnership, and policy dialogue. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head, Press and Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi.
The commendation came on 17 November 2025 when the President, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, officially declared open the 2025 FAAN National Aviation Conference at Eko Hotel, Lagos. The annual gathering brought together industry stakeholders to discuss investment-driven solutions for the air transport sector.
Keyamo, in his welcome address, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming the aviation industry through increased investment, strategic partnerships, and expanded global engagements. Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, the Minister emphasized that the conference demonstrates Nigeria’s determination to position aviation as a catalyst for economic growth, investment development, and global competitiveness. He applauded FAAN for organizing a conference that reflects the renewed vision and aspirations of the industry.
The Minister highlighted several areas where investors can partner with FAAN under transparent Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. These include airport infrastructure modernization, terminal upgrades, runway rehabilitation, apron expansion, and the development of new cargo complexes. He also outlined plans for a world-class Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub, support for aviation leasing companies, and the expansion of cargo and logistics hubs to strengthen Nigeria’s export capacity, especially in agriculture and manufacturing. Speaking further, he noted that the theme of FNAC 2025 “Elevating the Nigerian Aviation Industry Through Investment, Partnership and Global Engagements” signifies a shift from identifying challenges to building solutions. He encouraged stakeholders to collaborate with FAAN in strengthening the aviation ecosystem and urged support for the upcoming Nigeria International Airshow (NIA) 2025, which aims to reinforce Nigeria’s position as a major aviation hub in Africa.
FAAN Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, described FNAC 2025 as the country’s flagship aviation business forum. She said the conference’s exhibitions, panel sessions, and networking engagements are designed to attract investments in infrastructure, support airline growth, boost non-aeronautical revenues, and enhance capacity building for aviation professionals. She commended President Tinubu for reforms that continue to improve airport efficiency, passenger experience, and investor confidence.
The two day event drew participation from stakeholders, industry players, and professionals across the aviation value chain. It featured panel sessions, roundtable discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
Governors and representatives from Imo, Borno, Ogun, and Plateau States delivered goodwill messages, acknowledging improvements in safety, infrastructure, and operational efficiency. They urged both local and international investors to explore emerging opportunities within their states, assuring full cooperation and enabling policies for sustainable partnerships.
