Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged Nigerians to sustain prayers and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the President has remained steadfast in confronting the country’s economic and political difficulties.

Speaking during an Eid-el-Kabir reception held at his Abakaliki residence in Ebonyi State, Umahi described Tinubu as a leader committed to difficult reforms aimed at repositioning the country for long-term progress.

The former Ebonyi State governor told members of the Muslim community that Nigeria requires unity, patience, and collective prayers at a time the government is pushing through challenging decisions intended to stabilise the nation.

He maintained that despite criticisms trailing some government policies, the President has continued to show determination in tackling issues affecting governance, infrastructure, and the economy.

Umahi said he was yet to see any critic offer clearer or more practical alternatives to the steps currently being taken by the Federal Government.

According to him, national development can only thrive where citizens rise above ethnic and religious divisions to support peace and coexistence.

The minister noted that the Sallah gathering has become a yearly tradition bringing together Muslims from different ethnic backgrounds, including Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo communities resident in Ebonyi State.
He added that the celebration also reflects the strong relationship between Christians and Muslims in the state, explaining that members of the Christian community are sometimes part of the event.

As part of the celebration, Umahi distributed cash gifts, rice, and groundnut oil to Muslim families to support them during the festive season.

He also appealed to the Muslim faithful to pray for Tinubu’s health, strength, and political success ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that the President means well for Nigeria.
The minister further requested prayers for Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the state, expressing hope that they would continue to deliver good governance to the people.

Umahi concluded by extending Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims across the country, wishing them a peaceful and joyful celebration.
