Retired top officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reaffirmed their support for the Agency’s anti-drug campaign during a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd).

According to the press release issued by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, the team of nine retired Deputy Commanders General of Narcotics (DCGN) visited the NDLEA headquarters on Thursday, December 11, 2025, to congratulate Marwa on his renewed five-year tenure approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Leading the delegation, former Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, DCGN Sunday Nbona Joseph (rtd), commended Marwa for transforming the NDLEA into a globally respected agency. He described the reappointment as a positive development for the Agency, noting that Marwa’s leadership has strengthened operations and boosted the morale of personnel nationwide.

Joseph added that the retired directors were committed to offering guidance and support whenever necessary to help sustain NDLEA’s rising performance. The group also presented a large congratulatory card to Marwa as a symbol of goodwill and solidarity.

Responding, Marwa expressed gratitude for their visit and praised the retired directors for their contributions to the Agency’s trajectory. He stressed that NDLEA’s achievements were the result of collective effort rather than individual action, noting that the foundation laid by previous leadership teams continues to yield results.

Marwa acknowledged that his return for a second term may not sit well with criminal networks affected by the Agency’s intensified operations. Nevertheless, he assured the delegation that NDLEA was determined to push harder in dismantling drug cartels and expanding rehabilitation and preventive initiatives.

He further stated that with the full backing of President Tinubu, the Agency had recorded notable progress in recent years and was well positioned to achieve even greater milestones in the fight against substance abuse and illicit trafficking.
