Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped soldier and a civilian during a military operation against suspected terrorists in Zamfara State.
The successful rescue took place after troops conducting a fighting patrol raided a suspected terrorist hideout in the Gwashi axis on Tuesday, July 29.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, identified the rescued soldier as Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who was abducted on July 22 along the Zuru–Anka Road.
The troops also rescued Lauwali Dan Ada, a resident of Kasahola Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to the statement, both victims were immediately evacuated to a military facility, where they received medical attention, underwent debriefing and completed other necessary post-rescue procedures.
The Joint Task Force described the operation as another indication of the military’s sustained campaign against terrorist groups operating across the North West.
It added that troops would continue aggressive operations to dismantle terrorist hideouts, rescue kidnapped victims and strengthen security across affected communities in the region.
