The atmosphere inside Tangier Hotel, Utako, Abuja, was charged with excitement as young Nigerian journalist, Livinus Chibuike Victor, completed a staggering 74 hours and 10 seconds interview marathon, surpassing the current Guinness World Record of 55 hours, 24 seconds.

Victor, who set a personal target of 72 hours 30 seconds, exceeded his own goal by interviewing 129 guests between Sunday, September 28 and Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The feat now awaits official confirmation from the Guinness World Records (GWR).

Among the notable guests were National President of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Princess Edna Azurra; former NAWOJ Presidents Chief Moji Makanjuola, Rtn. Evelyn Onyilo, and Chief Ladi Bala; former First Lady of Imo State, Nneoma Rochas Okorocha; NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike; NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang; as well as Nollywood personalities, media executives, entrepreneurs, and civil society leaders.

Victor began the marathon at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, with Comrade Sharon Emephia, Assistant Secretary of NUJ FCT Council, and ended at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, with Etim Ekpo Enyogu.

With the theme “Nigeria Our Strength,” the event drew solidarity across the media and entertainment industry. Colleagues described Victor’s effort as a “celebration of resilience, storytelling, and the Nigerian spirit.”

“This is not just about breaking a record, it’s about being an ambassador for press freedom,” said Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council. She praised Victor for his dedication, adding that his achievement reflects the courage and passion of Nigerian journalists.

Throughout the marathon, guests from politics, security, entertainment, health, advocacy, and entrepreneurship took turns on the hot seat, engaging in wide-ranging conversations that highlighted journalism’s role in democracy and dialogue.

Princess Joy Idam, Team Lead for Media and Planning, said Victor endured great discomfort but remained determined to finish strong. “The journey seemed far at first, but he stayed in there and surpassed expectations,” she noted.

Victor dedicated his success to the guests and his crew. “When eventually declared winner, I will dedicate it to them. They are the true heroes,” he said at the close of the marathon.

If confirmed, his record will stand as a landmark achievement in global broadcasting, spotlighting Nigerian journalism on the world stage.
