The Honourable Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bar. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., has joined global legal and governance leaders at the 2025 International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference taking place in Toronto, Canada.

The conference, which runs from November 2 to 7, 2025, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, brings together more than 5,000 participants, including lawyers, policymakers, corporate executives, and bar association representatives from over 130 countries. The forum serves as a global platform to discuss emerging issues in law, justice, and governance.

According to a statement signed by Abdullahi A. Mohammed, Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of State for Works, Goronyo is attending in his personal and professional capacity as a long-standing member of the Bar. He is participating alongside other prominent Nigerian delegates, including the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

The statement noted that discussions at this year’s conference focus on key global issues such as access to justice, arbitration, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance, and digital transformation within the legal profession.

Some of the featured sessions include “Democracy in Crisis: The Role of Access to Justice” and “Leading with Resilience: Empowering Women Litigators in Uncertain Times.”

Goronyo’s participation, the statement added, underscores his ongoing commitment to professional development, legal excellence, and the integration of sound governance principles into public service. The Minister, a seasoned legal practitioner and policymaker, continues to promote the intersection between law and governance as a foundation for effective policy delivery and national growth.

“As the conference progresses, the Honourable Minister is expected to engage with peers, legal experts, and policymakers on global best practices aimed at strengthening institutional accountability and enhancing ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s Works sector,” the statement concluded.

The International Bar Association Annual Conference remains one of the world’s most significant gatherings of legal professionals, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange on global legal trends and justice systems.
