The success of the upcoming 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hinge not only on political strategies but also on meticulous logistical planning, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, emphasized on Tuesday as he inaugurated the party’s Accommodation and Transportation Committee in Abuja.

The strategic committee, which will oversee all arrangements for delegates, VIPs, and special guests, reflects a renewed focus by the APC on operational excellence, ensuring that every aspect of the convention runs smoothly. Umahi, who chairs the transportation component, stressed that the committee’s role extends beyond moving people and allocating rooms; it is central to creating an environment where the political process can unfold seamlessly.

The Accommodation and Transportation Committee is structured as two interlinked sub-units: the Transportation Committee under Umahi and the Accommodation Committee under the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. In a press release by Francis Nwaze, FIPMD, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, the sister committees were described as designed to operate in close coordination, demonstrating the synergy between federal and state leadership in delivering a major national event.

Speaking to committee members, Umahi underscored the direct link between logistics and the overall success of the convention. “Our leaders and special guests must be properly accommodated. Transportation between hotels, airports, and the convention venue must be well coordinated. When these logistics work smoothly, the Convention proceeds seamlessly. When they fail, even the most carefully planned event can be disrupted,” he said.

The Minister also highlighted the committee’s broader mandate, which includes coordinating hotel bookings, room allocations, VIP transport, fleet management, and operational support throughout the convention. Members are also expected to liaise with other convention committees responsible for venue management, protocol, accreditation, and security to ensure seamless operations.

He expressed confidence that the collective experience and dedication of committee members would ensure a well-organized and successful gathering. “The APC 2026 National Convention is not just an event; it is a showcase of our capacity for organization and discipline. With this committee in place, I am confident that we will host a convention worthy of the party’s leadership and vision,” Umahi said.

The inauguration also brought together senior senators, state representatives, and key party officials, with Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Secretary of the Committee, represented by Engr. Aderemi Oseni, providing administrative oversight. Umahi formally inaugurated the committee, emphasizing unity and readiness as the APC gears up for what is expected to be a historic national convention.
