The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has applauded Nigerian workers for their resilience and continued contribution to national development, noting that their efforts remain central to sustaining the country’s economic and social progress.
In a message marking this year’s Workers’ Day, the Director General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said workers across both the public and private sectors have continued to demonstrate commitment and sacrifice despite prevailing economic challenges.
He described the occasion as a reminder of the importance of labour in nation-building, stressing that no meaningful development can be achieved without the dedication and productivity of the workforce.
Issa-Onilu observed that Nigeria is at a critical stage in its development journey, where improved efficiency, discipline, and a stronger work ethic are needed to accelerate national growth.
He urged workers to remain committed to values such as integrity, professionalism, and hard work, adding that these remain key ingredients for both individual advancement and national transformation.
According to him, the Agency maintains that a shift in mindset is essential for sustainable development, where citizens collectively embrace innovation, accountability, and productivity as national values.
He also cautioned against attitudes that undermine progress, including corruption and inefficiency, noting that such practices continue to weaken institutional performance and slow down development efforts.
Reaffirming optimism in the country’s direction, Issa-Onilu pointed to ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda as steps aimed at improving welfare, strengthening institutions, and creating a more enabling environment for workers to thrive.
He called on Nigerian workers to remain patriotic and steadfast in their duties, expressing hope for a nation where labour is valued, opportunities are expanded, and prosperity is more widely shared.
