The Arewa Grassroots Leaders Assembly (AGLA) is compelled to express its strong disagreement with a recent statement credited to Mr. Otunba Segun Sowunmi. In the statement, Mr. Sowunmi linked the current political challenges faced by former Governors Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging poor treatment by the President. He further claimed that this would damage a long-standing understanding between the Yoruba and Northern regions.

We categorically reject this statement as baseless, mischievous, and divisive. It is clear that this statement was sponsored by Yahaya Bello to tarnish the image of President Tinubu and create unnecessary tension between the Yoruba and Northern regions. We want to assure the public that the North is fully supportive of the present administration and will do everything possible to support the EFCC in its lawful duties.

Mr. Sowunmi’s statement is not only false but also reckless and irresponsible. It is an attempt to manipulate public opinion and create a rift between the Yoruba and Northern regions. We urge the public to disregard this statement and any other attempts to sow discord and confusion.

We want to remind Mr. Sowunmi and his sponsors that the North and the Yoruba regions have a long history of cooperation and understanding. We have worked together to build a united and prosperous Nigeria, and we will not allow divisive statements like this to undermine our progress.

We stand united in our support for President Tinubu and the progress of our great nation. We will do everything possible to ensure that the EFCC and other law enforcement agencies are able to perform their duties without interference or intimidation.

Signed,

Hon. Onogu Collins Monday

National President, Arewa Grassroots Leaders Assembly.
