PDP Candidate, Okai Calls for Total Cancellation.
The independent National Electoral Commission INEC has ordered for the rerun in 42 polling units of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency were the Saturday exercise was marred with naked irregularities with matchets and guns freely used by APC thugs after declaring the exercise inconclusive .
But, the PDP candidate and renowned activist, Usman Austin Okai asked INEC to cancel the Dekina Local Government result in its entirety and provide adequate security for the rerun in the area.
He said the state government induced thugs had reigned heavily across the local government chasing away PDP supporters, confiscated the BVAS machines, outrightly destroyed the ballot boxes and papers and rewritten the results to favor the APC candidate.
The human rights activist says the hoodlums and APC mercenaries are readily available to be used by the ruling APC without restraint, calling on the security agencies to rise up to the occasion, as police in the area had compromised.
Okai also urged INEC staffs to demonstrate patriotism in the course of carrying out their statutory functions, rather than meddlesomeness during the forthcoming rerun
