Tracy Ohiri, the woman who recently went viral accusing Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, of owing her ₦20 million for over a decade, has publicly apologized. In a video released on Wednesday, Ohiri retracted her claims, setting the record straight and affirming the minister’s innocence.

The apology comes weeks after Ohiri’s initial claims went viral, sparking national debate and intense online discussions.

In the video, Ohiri admitted her allegations were unfounded and clarified that she had no personal knowledge of the Nellan engineers she had referenced. “After consulting with my family, friends, and legal team, and reviewing the events of the past weeks, I realize it’s important we give peace a chance,” she said.

Ohiri apologized directly to Senator Umahi and his family, as well as her own family and the public. She confirmed that no formal contract existed between her and Senator Umahi, and acknowledged that while materials she delivered may have been used by the minister’s aides for campaign purposes, she was unaware of any wrongdoing on his part.

This public apology by Ohiri sets the record straight, affirming Senator Umahi’s innocence and will help restore the minister’s image and calm the online storm that gripped Nigerians in recent weeks.

Analysts note that this development may mark a turning point in the controversy, helping to finally bring closure to the viral ₦20 million allegation saga.
