The military has taken five suspected kidnappers into custody and recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, a locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones during an intelligence-led operation in Yobe State, as investigations continue into their alleged involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected criminal elements in the area. The intelligence led to the arrest of the suspects on Thursday during a coordinated raid by troops of the 233 Battalion, Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, at Jegalari Village in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The recovered exhibits included three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to be linked to the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations.

The military also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest security agency, stressing that timely and credible information from law-abiding citizens remains critical to ongoing efforts to safeguard communities and enhance security across the region.
