The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to show courage, discipline, and professionalism in ongoing military operations across the country.

In a statement issued by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Shaibu gave the charge on Saturday, 20 June 2026, during the Passing Out Parade held at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State, where the latest batch of recruits formally completed their training.

Shaibu said the soldiers, having undergone rigorous training in Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency operations, are fully prepared for deployment in efforts aimed at addressing insecurity nationwide. He urged them to remain decisive in confronting terrorists and other criminal elements, while strictly adhering to professional standards.

The Army Chief reiterated that although the Nigerian Army remains committed to denying criminal groups any safe haven, all operations must be conducted in line with the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.

He also noted the continued support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in strengthening the operational capacity of the military. He added that Nigerians expect the new soldiers to demonstrate loyalty to the Constitution and maintain exemplary conduct in all assignments.

Shaibu further cautioned personnel against the misuse of social media, warning that unprofessional online behaviour and the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive operational information could undermine national security efforts.

Reaffirming the Army’s commitment to restoring peace and stability, the COAS said the newly inducted soldiers would play a vital role in sustaining ongoing operations against insecurity in different parts of the country.

The Passing Out Parade marks another milestone in the Nigerian Army’s efforts to boost manpower and enhance operational readiness in response to evolving security challenges.
