The Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and Member Representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims yesterday visited Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at Abejukolo to commiserate and reassure them of relief over a recent attack on some communities of Omala Local Government Area.
While making his address, Hon. Halims decried the aftermath consequences of the recent attacks and commiserated with the Government and people of Omala Local Government Area over the attacks. He sympathised with the people, shared in their grief and revealed some of his erstwhile efforts towards peace in Omala Local Government Area.
Among others, Rep Halims had on his entourage, the honourable member representing Ankpa 1 State Constituency, Hon. Akus Lawal, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Ankpa Federal Constituency security matters, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed (Ayuba Nana) as well as the immediate past Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Idris Musa.
In his welcome address, the Caretaker Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, Hon. Ameh Edibo Mark thanked Rep. Halims for his prompt reaction at the time of the attack despite being at far away Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj. He commended him for his proven love and unceasing solidarity towards Omala noting that the people of the area are proud of him.
While addressing the Displaced Persons, Rep. Halims assured them of his commitment towards ensuring a lasting peace in the area. He made a cash donation of two million naira, interacted with the IDPs and renewed his commitment to ensuring that a Naval Base is established in Bagana in addition to relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant MDAs.
On his part, the Kogi State honourable commissioner for Transportation who is an illustrious son of Omala Local Government Area described the physical visitation of Rep. Halims as the zenith of empathy towards the people. Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi advised the people of Omala to shun the politics of division as He further challenged those in privileged status to imitate the condoling Honourable Member and come to the aide of the people.
