From all indications, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was alleged to have increased public workers salary secretly to curb the attendant hardships, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy in June, beginning from August.

 

A reliable source close to Head of Service office has confirmed the uncertain development, as workers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies were seen in clusters on Monday discussing the new development.

 

According to the sources , the increments will not attract arears of any form like the peculiar allowances paid by former President, Muhammadu Buhari, but commence in August , 2023.

“We are advised to be secret about the whole development, so that it will not trigger inflation figure as the subsidy removal and increments in salary was meant to cushion the negative effects of situations.” According to some Civil Servants who pleaded for anonymity.

 

It will be recalled that some workers in the private sector particularly Banks had increased their salary variously by 100% among others, to reduce the cost of living and hardships.
