Kogi: Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris condemns attacks in Bassa Local Government, calls for peaceful coexistence

A Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governorship Aspirant of the party in Kogi State during the 2019 primary election, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris has condemned the attacks in communities in Bassa Local Government Area of the State.

It would be recalled that properties worth millions of Naira were reportedly razed during renewed fighting between the people of Bassa and Igburra in Bassa local government area in East senatorial district of Kogi State.

No fewer than 20 houses were reported to have been destroyed as well as many people killed in the renewed crisis about two weeks ago.

However, in a statement on Friday by his media office, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim called for peaceful coexistence in Bassa Local Government Area as well as the entire State.

“I call on both the Federal and State Governments to make efforts towards ensuring that lasting peace returns to Bassa Local Government.

“We must come together as brothers and sisters to make our dear State great irrespective of religious and tribal differences.

“There is no need to fight and kill ourselves,. You must be your neighbours’ keeper at all times.

“We must settle our differences amicably no matter the level of anger because as human beings we are bound to disagree and agree among ourselves. The most important thing is to settle issues amicably.

“So, for me, the attacks and killings in Bassa Local Government Area in the last few weeks stand condemned in all its totality, and once again I call for peaceful coexistence in the Local Government Area and the State as a whole”. He said.
