Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim Baba Karshi clocked one year laced with numerous achievements in September, 2021 as the new Education Secretary, Local Education Authority LEA of Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, the seat of Nigeria’s government.

But, the celebration of the grand occasion that came in December, 2021 was an indicator of a woman with distinct administrative wizardry at the helms of affairs in the nation’s capital.

As early as 8am in December, 16th, 2021, the administrative head of Education in the Federal Capital Territory FCT under her leadership played host to dignataries across the FCT to mark both his one year in office and merit award to deserving schools, head teachers and staffs of the Local Education Authority LEA, Abuja.

As an educationist and administrator for many years , the only way to encourage hardwork, excellent performance, dilligence and dedication to duty among school teachers in the FCT and Education authority workers was to institute a reward system.

The initiatives will on the long run have multiplier positive effects on both the school children and students of the Local Education Authority LEA, Abuja.

With remarkable achievements in the last one year, the LEA AMAC Education Secretary, a woman of distinct valour with alot of men followership and loyalty with her women folk, gathered the who is who not only in education sector of the FCT, but the traditional class, political class, top civil servants, opinion leaders, non governmental organizations, civil societies that ensured the success of the maiden program.

Appointed in 2020 as a seasoned administrator , educationalist and manager, she displayed alot of managerial acumen just one year down the line as the Education Secretary, Abuja Municipal Area Council.

This attracted both the political , professional, administrators and opinion leaders that thronged to witness the occasion.

With a committed and dedicated staffs across the LEA, no doubt the occasion was one too many witnessed in recent times.

Her popularity was displayed at the occassion with the presence of Hon Minister of State , FCT Dr Tijanni Ramatu Aliyu represented by the Director and Ag Chairman, Universal Basic Education Board UBEB, Dr Hassan Sule among many others that honoured the occasion.

With the presence of the Royal father of the day, and His Royal Highness, the Ona of Abaji who led other traditional rulers from the FCT, and the presence of the Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairman’, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido, the event was colourful and worthwhile.

The event which started and ended with prayers , was made colourful with different awards and prices to staffers of LEA .

Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim Baba Karshi was also eulogised for changing not only the face of education in FCT, structure and major achievements through renovation and facelift of the some structures of the LEA.

These among many others was the construction of pension house that will attend to cases arising from the contributory pension scheme of staffers among many others.

Because of it’s location, on assumption of duty ,she embarked on total renovation of structures in the LEA to a befitting standard and conducive environment for both office accommodation and visitors to the nation’s basic education environment.

At inception, she introduced/ rejigged the school monitoring committee so as to ensured reliable feedbacks and reaction from management of the LEA.

Security of lives and properties had become an issue desiring special attention across the country, her efforts in that regard at AMAC LEA was outstanding and encouraging in her one year stint

The new Education Secretary embarked on massive trainings and retrainings of both administrative and academic staffs, so as to impact modern and modest knowledge on the pupils as well as exposed them to the present realities both for the old and new employees, so as to deliver on the basic requirements expected by the authority.

The facelift carried out in the LEA did not leave out, the existing car park and expansion in the compound, so as to secure visitors cars and safeguard the official vehicles of the LEA.

Staff welfare was prioritised and awards through reward system, to encourage optimum performance of statutory duties and create healthy competition among the workers of the LEA both on the field as teachers and in the office as adminstrative staffers.

Aside rewarding hardwork, she had been bestowed many awards locally, internationally, religion and non religion since her assumption of duty.
