Thirteen kidnapped civilians have been rescued by troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, during separate intelligence-led operations that disrupted terrorist activities in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2, Bagega, responded to credible intelligence on the movement of armed terrorists on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the troops, supported by real-time surveillance, pursued and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their planned operation and flee.

A follow-up search of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped civilians were rescued unharmed.

In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, the task force said troops acted on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the area and engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight.

The Joint Task Force said the encounter forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray, leaving behind their captives. Eight kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation, while two vehicles were recovered.

The task force added that the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further care and support.

Lieutenant Colonel Danja said troops continued to dominate the general area, denying terrorists freedom of action and sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating across the theatre.
